1. Who we are

TINYtutor is operated by Ellen Gayle Schwinger ("we", "us"), acting as the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. You can reach us at specialeducationadvocate24@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

• Account data — email address, password (hashed), and authentication identifiers.
• Student profile data — student name, grade level, screener responses, and learning progress that you (the parent, guardian, or educator) enter.
• Usage data — pages viewed, lessons attempted, answers submitted, scores, and timing.
• Device and log data — IP address, browser type, device type, and access timestamps.
• Communications — messages you send to support and our responses.
• Payment data — handled by our payment processor, Shopify. We receive limited transaction metadata (e.g. order ID, plan, status) but do not store full card details.

3. How we use your information

• Create and maintain your account and student profiles (contract).
• Deliver, personalize, and improve the Service (legitimate interests).
• Process payments and manage subscriptions (contract, legal obligation).
• Provide customer support (contract, legitimate interests).
• Protect against fraud, abuse, and security incidents (legitimate interests, legal obligation).
• Send service-related notices (contract). We do not use student data for advertising.

4. Children's data

TINYtutor is designed to be used by a parent, legal guardian, or educator on behalf of a student. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Student profile data is provided by the adult account holder, used solely to deliver the educational service, and is not sold or shared for advertising.

5. How we share information

We share personal data only with:

• Service providers / subprocessors we rely on to run TINYtutor, including hosting and database (Supabase), application hosting (Lovable Cloud / Cloudflare), and email/auth infrastructure.
• Shopify, our payment processor, for checkout, subscription management, tax compliance, and invoicing.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where reasonably necessary.
• Authorities when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or property.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Data retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After account deletion, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or fraud prevention purposes.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access, correct, or delete your personal data;
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• request a portable copy of your data;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security in our database, to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can clear cookies in your browser settings; doing so may sign you out of the Service.

11. Changes to this notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notified by email.
